Welcome to Girls on the Run of Anderson

Girls on the Run is non-profit program that encourages preteen and teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.   The curriculum addresses all aspects of the girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being.  Girls on the Run combines training for a 5k (3.1 miles) event with healthy living education. We use exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouraging role models to help girls discover the confidence they need in those critical pre-teen years and beyond.

Girls on the Run International is the parent organization of more than 160 locations across the United States and Canada.  GOTRI establishes, trains and supports a network of community-level councils with local volunteers.  The volunteers serve as role models to the girls through coaching the 12-week, 24 lesson curriculum.  The curriculum is delivered in these areas through our after-school programs.

Girls on the Run of Anderson currently meets on Mondays and Thursdays(3rd-5th Grade)  from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm and Girls on Track(6th - 8th Grade) meets at 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm at the Anderson Area YMCA.  The program’s fees are $175 and cover professional leadership, t-shirt, registration for season end 5K race, banquet, program, snacks and prizes. Scholarships are available.  We are an affilliate of the Anderson Area YMCA.
